Tree work in Burnley comes under Burnley Borough Council. If a tree has a Tree Preservation Order on it, you need their written consent before any cutting. If the property is in a conservation area, they need six weeks' written notice before the work starts.
We check which applies to your address as part of quoting, and we will not cut a protected tree without the paperwork being right. It is a criminal offence, and the fine lands on the householder as well as the contractor.
Hedge work between March and August
Nesting season. We check the hedge before starting and leave any section with an active nest in it, then come back for the rest once they have fledged. That applies in Burnley the same as everywhere else — it is the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, not a preference.
